‘Champions after four long years’ -Fans react as Barcelona beat Espanyol 4-2 to bag 27th LaLiga Title

Barcelona trumped rivals Espanyol on Sunday in a dominating 4-2 win. This was the first moment under the sun for the club since Lionel Messi went away and switched bases from Camp Nou. Robert Levandowski scored a brace which helped the club to oust Espanyol at RCDE Stadium in Cornella de Llobregat.

Barcelona appeared to be spot on with their football. They made all the early running. The Catalans drew first blood in the 11th minute when Levandowski made Alejandro Balde’s cross count and hit the ball to the back of the net. Barcelona kept the pressure on and kept pressing the initiative. The Spanish Club was rewarded with its second goal when Balde combined well with Pedri’s assist from the midfield to make it 2-0.

Barcelona did not allow Espanyol to get on the offensive. They scored a third just before the half time break. Lewandoski smashed the ball into the goal with his left foot after Raphina made a chance from the right side and took the ball near the goal. Jules Kounde scored the fourth for the night with a superb header. The early damage had been done by the Spanish Giants. Espanyol scored two goals but could not mount a full counterattack against a strong Barcelona unit.

Barcelona with this LA Liga title win, have managed to emerge victorious under coach Xavi. The Head Coach said it was a great feeling to win a trophy after a long gap of ten months and also, he was relieved that all the hard work has paid off. The coach was very happy man after the club got a well-deserved victory.

“Magnificent feeling. A job well done. This started in July. 10 months of work, sacrifice. The fans, and the club, deserve it. It gives us stability and security that things are being done well. We have sealed La Liga with a fantastic game. We have been brilliant. The team has relaxed at the end and they have shown pride. We have won La Liga in a derby, which is not normal,” Xavi said after Barcalona clinched their 27th LaLiga title.
