The Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians locked horns against each other at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. RR won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star for RR with the bat as he scored a magnificent 124 off 63 balls with 16 fours and eight sixes.

This allowed RR to get to a huge total of 212-7 in their 20 overs. In the second innings, a collective batting effort from MI ensured the target was chased down with three balls left. The big point of contention in the match was Rohit Sharma’s dismissal.

The MI skipper did not have the best of birthdays as he fell to Sandeep Sharma after making just 3 off 5 balls on the final ball of the second innings. Rohit made some room for himself but ended up missing the ball completely as the ball moved away from him.

The bails were dislodged, and the MI skipper was given out by the umpire. Earlier, replays gave the indication that Sanju Samson’s gloves had whipped the bails off. But a clearer picture came when a new image surfacing on the internet shows that Sanju’s gloves were far away from the stumps.

MI beat RR by 6 wickets to win the 1000th game of the IPL

Though Rohit got out early, it was a wonderful day for MI as Cameron Green made an attacking 44 off 26 balls with four fours and two sixes. Suryakumar Yadav was in his element as he treated the Wankhede to some dazzling stroke play. The right-hander made 55 off 29 balls with eight fours and two sixes. The finishing touches were given by Tilak Varma and Tim David.

Both the strikers were in excellent form. The left hand-right hand combination treated the RR bowlers with their powerful strokes and were particularly severe on a misfiring Jason Holder, who gave away 55 runs in his spell of 3.3 overs.

Varma made 29 off 21 balls with three fours and one six, while David played a game changing 45 off 14 balls with two fours and five sixes to hand MI a famous win on the day of the 1000th IPL game.
