Caribbean Premier League 2022: Shakib Al Hasan to play for Guyana Amazon Warriors, Mohammad Nabi to play or Jamaica Tallawahs
The 10th season of the Caribbean Premier League 2022 is approaching its business end with most teams having played around seven games. At this stage of the tournament. Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs have signed new players. The Warriors have signed Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. He will replace Tabraiz Shamsi, who has left due to national duties for the rest of the tournament.
Guyana’s bowling attack has been weakened a bit as they had two wrist spinners in the form of Imran Tahir and Shamsi. However, Hasan will fill the space left by Shamsi with his left-arm spin. Notably, Shakib has been part of two CPL winnings teams in 2016 and 2019. In 2016, he played for Jamaica and in 2019, he played for Barbados Tridents (now Royals). The left-arm all-rounder holds the record for best bowling figures in the history of the tournament.
In the game against Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel (now Trinbago Knight Riders), he took six wickets for as many runs. Notably, the 35-year-old took the No-Objection certificate before the tournament started. However, his stint with the league will clash with 20-20 World Cup 2022 preparatory camp. Meanwhile, the five-time finalists will be hoping for the revival of their fortunes. They have played five games and have managed to win only one so far.
Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz signed by Jamaica Tallawahs
On the other hand, the two-time winners have signed the Afghan boys – Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Nabi has previously played St Kitts and Nevis Patriots a few years back. He has replaced Nepal leggie, Sandeep Lamichhane, who has been suspended by the Cricket Association of Nepal on the allegation of rape of a minor. Sandeep has claimed that the allegations are baseless.
On the other hand, Gurbaz has got his maiden deal in the Caribbean’s cash-rich league. He will join his national team’s skipper for the rest of the season. The right-hander has replaced Heinrich Klassen, who has left to prepare for the India series to be played next month.
