The Mumbai Indians (MI), the most prosperous team in the IPL, have a talent for developing youngsters into future cricketing stars. While many of the team’s players have gone on to represent their respective countries, fans frequently ponder the methodology behind MI’s talent scouting, grooming, and coaching that consistently produces cricketing superstars.

A fascinating pattern emerges when one examines MI’s historical success in greater detail. With the exception of the legendary Master Blaster, MI has consistently had a bowler or two on the list of the highest wicket-takers even when their batsmen don’t consistently lead the charts for the most runs scored in the competition. In this regard, legends like Mitchell Johnson, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, and Lasith Malinga have excelled. This pattern emphasizes the key factor that has contributed to MI’s recent dominance: a tenacious and reliable bowling unit that consistently rises to the challenge, regardless of the team’s batting performance.

Shane Bond, who served as MI’s Bowling Coach and MI Emirates Head Coach, is the brains behind this formidable Mumbai Indians bowling lineup over the years. The Mumbai Indians recently announced the end of Shane Bond’s highly successful tenure, which began in 2015 and lasted for nine outstanding years. Bond served as the team’s bowling coach during his tenure with the franchise, and his influence helped MI win four IPL trophies, an incredible feat. He additionally worked as MI Emirates’ head coach during the ILT20’s first season.

In the wake of his departure, Shane Bond expressed his gratitude, stating, “I would like to thank the Ambani family for the opportunity to be part of MI One Family for the last nine seasons. It has been an incredible experience with so many great memories on and off the field. I have been lucky enough to work with and have strong relationships with so many great people, both players and staff. I will miss them all and wish them all the best for the future. Finally thanks to the MI Paltan for their support as well.”
