Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper, met with an accident on his way from Dehradun to Delhi at the Narsan border of Roorkee, in the early hours of December 30, Friday and his car crashed into a divider, catching fire eventually. However, the southpaw managed to come out of the vehicle after breaking its glass and was later shifted to Dehradun Max hospital.

The Indian cricket board got in direct touch with the family and assured them of assistance until all the procedures for his recovery are completed. The board also clarified the injuries that the batter sustained post the accident and fans hoped for the speedy recovery of Pant, given that he is one of India’s prime batters.

“India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant met with a car accident early on Friday morning near Roorkee, Uttarakhand. He was admitted to Saksham Hospital Multispecialty and Trauma Centre where he was treated for impact injuries. Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back,” the Indian cricket board said in the statement.

Actors Anupam Kher, Anil Kapoor visit Rishabh Pant

As things stand, on Saturday, the renowned Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher took their time off to meet the noted Indian left-hander and clarified that Pant was recovering well. Anupam, on the other hand, said that they interacted with his parents and made the batter laugh a lot.

“He (Pant) is doing fine. We met him as fans. Let us pray that he recovers soon and we see him playing again,” Kapoor was quoted as saying after meeting Pant. “Everything is fine. We met Pant, his mother and relatives, they are all fine. We made him laugh a lot,” Kher was quoted as saying.

It remains to be seen if the Indian batter would be back on his feet for the 2023 50-over World Cup to be held in India later. But as of now, all eyes would be on his recovery and the roadmap to bring him back on the field, given that a player of such calibre cannot be kept out for long.
