Yashasvi Jaiswal has been in roaring form in the Indian Premier League, so far. The left-handed batter is currently in the second place for the orange cap. The 21-year-old has scored 429 runs in nine matches with an average of 47.56. He has been giving great starts to the Rajasthan Royals and also his big hitting up front has taken the pressure of Jos Buttler and allowed the Englishman some time to play himself in.
In a recent interview on Times of India, Jaiswal talked about who were his role models in the game and who inspired him to make it big in cricket.
“Virat Bhaiya & Dhoni sir have played big roles in my career, I have taken advice from them, I took advice from Rohit Bhaiya as well – learned a lot from them”, he said.
The left-hander made a cracking century against Mumbai Indians. It was his first IPL ton and it was a wonderful innings.

“I have worked hard on my game in the last few months. I play according to the team’s demands as our team needs a flying start in the first few overs. Playing the ball on merit and being in the right frame of mind are the secrets of my success this season. A couple of early matches where I scored fifties boosted my confidence a great deal,” Jaiswal said after scoring the hundred against MI.
“Whenever I go to bat, I try to be in the best zone. Barring a few matches, I did not take unnecessary risks in the first few overs. Powerplay is the key and I take calculated risks to help my team get a positive start. Captain Sanju Samson and other senior members of the side always back me whether I score runs or not. I like the team atmosphere and positive energy on and off the field,” Jaiswal added.
The young cricketer is from a very humble background. He has come from modest beginnings. Now, he is beginning to live the big dream of playing cricket alongside the greats. If the left- hander continues his great form, then RR could have another strong season in IPL 2023.
