India have been on target in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 so far with two wins from two games. The heartwarming thing has been the bowling of the Indian side. They restricted Pakistan to 160 in their first game and in the second encounter they rallied together to reduce the Netherlands to 123-9.

India were handed a jolt before the World Cup as Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out due to a back injury. Bhuvneshwar Kumar endured a tough time in the Asia Cup as he was leaking runs in the death overs. His bowling had been under the scanner since the Asia Cup.

It has all changed for the UP lad as he was back to his best in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 as he did not allow the Pakistan batters to settle down in what was a hostile spell of swing bowling. This created pressure on the Men in Green and Arshdeep Singh reaped the rewards by dismissing Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

“The kind of bowler Bumrah is, certainly its a big loss for the team. It’s not as if we would have to do something extra that Bumrah isn’t around,” Bhuvneshwar told reporters in mixed zone after another tight show against the Netherlands.

“Even if Bumrah would have been around, and if needed, we would have done those extra things. We are doing exactly what our strengths are.”

When asked if the criticism about his Asia Cup death bowling had hurt him having done admirably well for India for a decade, Bhuvneshwar did give an impression that he wasn’t amused.

“Itni saalon mein ek baar ho gayi cheezein kharab. So ho gayi. Baat khatm. (In all these years, I have had this one-off tournament. It’s happened. It’s done and dusted).

Bhuvneshwar said that he does not indulge in and follow social media during the big tournaments. “During World Cup, I keep myself completely off from social media and have no idea what all is written about. Because it’s the social media from which you come to know all these things.”

He also talked about the change in conditions in Australia and that he was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of swing on offer. “I never expected that my deliveries would swing so much. Whether me or Arshdeep who got two wickets, me and Arshdeep complimented each other. So you can say I was happy,” the senior bowler said.
