‘Bhai ye hypothetical dream hai, Chod de ise’ – Fans react as Pujara shares the biggest dream he wants to accomplish as Indian cricketer
Cheteshwar Pujara has been the rock of the Indian Team when it comes to the Test format. He has had a terrific career in the white flannels and has had a stellar 13-year Test career where he has scored 7021 runs in 99 matches at an average of 44.15 and a strike rate of 44.44. He has scored 19 hundreds and 34 fifties with the highest score of an unbeaten 206.
Pujara will play his 100th Test match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. India decimated Australia in Nagpur to win by an innings and 132 runs on the back of wonderful batting and bowling performances from the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. India won the test in three days.
My goal is to win a Test Championship final for India- Cheteshwar Pujara
“When I started playing cricket and then made my (Test) debut, I never thought about playing hundred Test matches. For me, it is always about being in the present and not thinking too far ahead. So, for me, I thought before this series started and that’s when I realized that I will be playing my hundredth Test match. In a career, you always go through ups and downs, and you have to fight through those periods,” Pujara said in a pre-match press conference on Thursday.
To get into the Test Championship final, India must beat Australia by 3-0 or a 3-1 margin. India last beat Australia at home in a three-match Test series. India won the decider at Dharamshala when the series was tied at 1-1.
Pujara will be only the 13th Indian player to have got to the 100th Test landmark.
“My dream is to win a TC final for the Indian team, which didn’t happen in the last final. But hopefully, once we qualify, we move towards that,” Pujara added.
Pujara is a person who you closely resembles Rahul Dravid, who is the current India head coach in terms of style of play. The man from Saurashtra has played many knocks with tremendous grit and determination and has been at the forefront of some of India’s special wins abroad.
He has also not hesitated to get hit on his body and has got a lot of blows through the many innings that he has played. Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter with regards to his recent statement:
