Bhai tu bohot jaldi trigger ho jata hai’- Twitter reacts as Jadeja posts a cryptic tweet amidst Axar Patel’s heroics in white-ball cricket
After India won the second ODI against Sri Lanka by four wickets in Kolkata, India allrounder Ravindra Jadeja created a storm on social media by posting a cryptic tweet saying, “Don’t say anything. Just smile”. The Indian Cricket Board has not given any details on when Jadeja will make a return to international cricket as he is currently out due to an injury.
Jadeja has been on the sidelines in the Indian Cricket Team as he has not yet recovered from a knee injury due to which he missed the 20-20 World Cup 2022. In place of Jadeja, Axar Patel has stepped up and is doing a great job for India. Jadeja also had a bit of a row when he used images of the Indian jersey and national flag when he was campaigning for the BJP. In 2023, Axar’s form has grown by leaps and bounds. In the T20 series against Sri Lanka, he scored 117 runs from three games with three wickets to boot. Axar has performed well for India in the absence of Jadeja.
In the Test format, Jadeja has grown tremendously concerning his batting and has added a lot of balance and depth in the longest format for India, scoring 2523 runs in 60 matches in addition to the 242 wickets that he has picked. India will feel the absence of Jadeja in the four-match series against Australia as India will miss his abilities with both bat and ball which have changed games for the national side.
Jadeja had captained Chennai for eight matches in 2022 before Dhoni took the reins back
Jadeja was also involved in a feud with the Chennai management last year as he was appointed as captain in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League and was named Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s successor but halfway through the season, when things did not go to plan, the captaincy was reinstated back to MS Dhoni. The 2022 season was one of the worst for Chennai as they finished in the 9th spot at the points table last season.
Jadeja has been a match-winner for India and the fans will be hoping that he comes back into action quickly and changes Team India’s fortunes in all three departments, especially in the Australia series. India won the last Border Gavaskar Trophy series at home in 2017 by a 2-1 margin. Twitter was abuzz, let us take a look at the reactions here-
