The five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians are back to their winning ways in IPL 2023 by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to register their third consecutive victory of the season after couple of losses. Batting first,MI posted a total of 192 runs for the loss 5 wickets, powered by the half-century by Cameron Green. In reply, SRH were bowled out for 178 runs in 19.5 overs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave a fine start to MI by adding 41 runs for the first wicket in 4.4 overs. Rohit again lost his wicket after a good start as he was dismissed by T. Natarajan after scoring 28 off 18. After that, Kishan and Cameron Green took the innings further with a partnership of 46 runs for the second wicket.

Kishan got out after scoring 38 runs off 31 balls with three fours and two sixes. A couple of deliveries later, Suryakumar Yadav also lost his wicket to Jansen followed by the brilliant fielding effort by the SRH skipper Aiden Markram. After that, Green and Tilak Verma put up a partnership of 56 runs for the fourth wicket.

Tilak got out after smashing 37 runs off 17 balls with two fours and five sixes. On the other hand, Green went on to score his maiden IPL half-century. The Australian batter remained unbeaten on 64 off 40 hitting six fours and two sixes as MI crossed 190 runs. For SRH, Jansen scalped 2 wickets conceding 43 runs in his four overs.

SRH lost the momentum after early wickets

Chasing the winning total, SRH didn’t had a great start as they lost 2 wickets at the score of 25 in 3.4 overs. After that, Mayank Agarwal and AidenMarkram took charge of the innings and added 46 runs for the third wicket. Markram got out after scoring 22 off 17. In the next over, SRH lost another wicket as Piyush Chawla dismissed Abhishek Sharma to give MI a fourth breakthrough. After that, Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen put up a partnership of 55 runs for the fifth wicket.

Klaasen got out after smashing 36 off 16 with four fours and two sixes. While Agarwal got out after scoring 48 off 41 including four fours and a maximum. SRH kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bowled with just one delivery remaining to finish the match. For MI, Jason Behrendorff, Riley Meredith and Piyush Chawal scalped 2-2 wickets, while Cameron Green and Arjun Tendulkar shared a wicket each.
