‘Bhai kya kru hasi bhi arahi he aur gussa bhi’ – Fans confused as Indian T20 league mandates 7 day isolation for Covid-19 positive cases
The Indian T20 League 2023 edition is about start on March 31st. The League will be played in the traditional home and away format. The games will take place in 12 venues in India. In other sporting events, players are allowed to take part in them despite being Covid -19 positive. But the Indian T20 League has not gone back on its old system of 2022. It has still asked the cricketers to go through a week-long isolation period if positive before rejoining their sides.
The season will not have a bio-secure bubble. But there will be other protocols to be followed. The Indian T20 League said that it wants to tread carefully when it comes to players testing positive. The cricketers will not be allowed to join training or play in a match until they return with consecutive negative tests. The Tests can only be taken after a day five recovery.
The Emerging strains are becoming a concern at regular intervals – Indian T20 League
“While there has been a decline in the number of Covid-19 cases in India we still have to be careful of the emerging strains which are becoming a concern at regular intervals,” As quoted by Espn Cricinfo. “Positive cases must be isolated for maximum seven days. Positive cases will not be allowed to participate in any match or any form of activity/event during the period of isolation. The regulations say.
“From day five, they can undergo a RT-PCR, provided they must be must be asymptomatic without any medication for 24 hours. Once the first result is negative the 2nd test must be done 24 hours apart. Only after obtaining two negative RT-PCR tests 24 hours apart i.e., day five and day six, can they rejoin the group.” The guidelines stated.
The Indian T20 League said that the testing stands from those showing Covid -19 symptoms and not for asymptomatic cases. Any player who continues to test positive even after day seven would need to put out two negative tests 12 hours apart before getting back the group.
