A day after India’s Asia Cup squad announcement, Yuzvendra Chahal’s wife, Dhanashree Verma, posted a cryptic message. In her recent Instagram story, Dhanashree questioned the results of being an introvert. She asked if, if someone is an introvert, it will hurt his or her professional growth.

Notably, India announced a 17-member squad for the prestigious Asia Cup in 2023. Star India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was one of those players who missed the flight by a mere margin. The team went with all-rounder Axar Patel in place of Chahal to strengthen their batting line-up. However, this decision didn’t go well with the fans, who questioned Chahal.

However, a day after that, Dhanashree Verma took to Instagram to express her emotions. She wrote, “Now I have started to question this on a serious note. If being super submissive and introverted can be harmful to your work growth, Or do we all have to be extroverts and street smart to grow in life?” It’s worth noting that Chahal has always been on the receiving end, as he was left out of the T20I World Cup in 2021 and didn’t get a chance to play in the T20I World Cup in 2022.

“I would have Chahal in my squad”, Irfan Pathan questions selection.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan also reacted to the selection calls. He thinks that injury concerns for Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna might have forced team management to pick a bowler who can bat too. He took on his X (formerly known as Twitter) account and said, “Worry for selectors that Bumrah and Prasidh are coming back from long layoffs. That’s one of the two reasons you will see the Indian team playing with an extra bowler who can bat. I would have Chahal in my squad. What do you guys think? #AsiaCup.”

On the other hand, ace commentator Harsha Bhogle also explained the reason behind Chahal’s omission. He said that it’s worrying that no bowler can bat and no batter can bowl. He said, “Neither of the four quicks picked nor the two wrists available are good enough to bat at No. 8, which means only one wrist spinner and two of the quicks can play. India has no choice but to play either Axar or Shardul every time. Makes it very difficult to find room for Chahal.”
