In a highly anticipated showdown at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Australia clashed with defending champions England in Match 33 of the ODI World Cup 2023. Jos Buttler, leading the English side, won the toss and decided to put the Aussies into bat.

England’s bowlers, spearheaded by the talented Chris Woakes, made a strong start by consistently taking wickets. However, Australia managed to put up a competitive total of 286 runs, setting the stage for a pivotal World Cup battle between these Ashes rivals.

Adam Zampa played a pivotal role in the middle overs, securing three crucial wickets by dismissing Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, and Moeen Ali. England’s lower order put up a spirited fight, but the Australian bowlers, led by Josh Hazlewood and Marcus Stoinis, eventually bowled out England for 253 runs, sealing a 33-run victory for Australia.

This win solidified Australia’s position in the race for a spot in the semi-finals, further intensifying the competition in the ODI World Cup 2023. The Player of the Match award was presented to Adam Zampa for his exceptional performance, taking three wickets in his 10 overs while conceding only 21 runs. His contribution with the bat, scoring 29 runs during Australia’s innings, also played a crucial role in securing the victory.
