‘Bas thoda uper bat kr le’ – Fans react as MS Dhoni starts practice ahead of 16th season of Indian T20 League
Ahead of the upcoming season, the Indian T20 League teams have begun their preparations for the two-month mega event. One of the early starters for the season is MS Dhoni-led Chennai who have already camped in Chepauk for the practice. Skipper MS Dhoni, along with coaching staff, are sweating it out in the nets at Chepauk Stadium as he will return to the ground after almost 10 months.
Dhoni came to Chennai earlier this month to begin his preparations for the 16th edition of the tournament, which is possibly his last season as a player. The 41-year-old will play in front of his home supporters for the first time in three years, and he is working hard to be at his best before the season begins. Sharing a video of a practice session Chennai has shared glimpses of the Veteran wicketkeeper-batter.
In the video, Dhoni can be seen hammering the balls hard in the nets. Sharing the video on social media the franchise captioned it with “Nonchalant.”

Chennai to play an inaugural match against Gujarat
The 16th season of the Indian T20 League is set to begin on March 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The inaugural match of the season will be played between Defending Champions Gujarat and four-time champions Chennai. Notably, Chennai had a terrible season last year, finishing ninth in the points table with only four wins.
Meanwhile, in Indian T20 League 2022 Skipper of Chennai Ravindra Jadeja failed to lead the team and surrendered the captaincy a mid-way. Dhoni once again reclaimed and agreed to lead the team for one more year. Notably, Dhoni has led Chennai to four IPL titles: in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. And fans will be hoping for another championship in his final season.
Meanwhile, fans react to his practice video. A Twitter user said, “Thala is back.”

Literally stopped watching cricket after MSD’s departure. And mind you, I was one of them who would stay up all night just to watch the game and go to work right after.
No player like him. @msdfansofficial

Dhoni might not bat higher so we won't be able to see his best quite often this season. Excited to see two Englishmen Stokes n Ali dominate the middle overs for them.
