India faced Bangladesh in the second match at Sher-e-Bangla on Wednesday. The Men in Blue needed a win to save the series but they failed to do so. Let’s look at how India vs Bangladesh match played out:
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. The two openers Anamul Haque and Litton Das walked in to face the Indian bowlers but failed to give a good start. Mohammed Siraj brought out the first wicket for India. This was not all, the 28-year-old also removed Litton Das with a peach of a delivery in the 10th over.
Bangladesh struggled to put runs on the board as Indian bowlers dominated Bangladesh batters in the middle overs. Washington Sundar then came on and piled more pressure with two quick wickets in the form of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan.
The home team soon found themselves struggling at 69/6 and it looked like a game to lose for India. The visiting team however still had a massive challenge in the form of Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah who combined to make a 148-run partnership and take Bangladesh to a fighting total of 271/7.
Rohit Sharma got injured in the second over while taking a catch in slip and had to be taken to hospital for an x-ray. Following Rohit’s absence, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan opened the innings but failed to give a good start as both were sent back to the dugout at just 13 runs.
It was Shreyas Iyer who held the innings with his 82 off 102 while wickets continued to fall from the other end. KL Rahul, the stand-in captain failed yet again. All-rounder Axar Patel also played a significant knock of 56 off 56 to inch closer to the target. There was however still much to do after Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar failed to take India across the line.
Rohit Sharma who was out injured had to come to the pitch despite a swollen thump. The Indian captain played a valiant inning of 51 off 28 but still could not win the match for India. In the end, India suffered a heartbreaking loss of 5 runs and as a result of it, the Men in Blue have also lost the match.

Take a bow, Rohit Sharma!!
Made a brave decision to come out to bat with an injured thumb and scored 51* (28), with less chances to win the game, he gave his best and took India closer. pic.twitter.com/JVwww7wfPZ
