Great news coming in for the Delhi Capitals. Most of the bats that were stolen before the game against KKR were recovered by the police. Ahead of the KKR game, the DC camp got a shock when the cricket bats of David Warrner, Yash Dhull and Mitchell Marsh were stolen. Other cricket equipment worth 16 Lakhs was stolen from the camp.

The cricket equipment had gone absconding when the DC side had travelled from Bengaluru to Delhi. The news was broken to the players when they received their kit bags in the rooms. “All of them were shocked when they heard that everyone had lost something or the other from their kit bags. This is the first time such an incident has happened, and the matter was soon raised to the logistics department, police and later at the airport. The investigation is on,” As quoted by Indian Express.

According to a report by Indian Express, 16 bats along with pads, shoes, thigh pads and gloves were stolen from Delhi Capitals’ players’ kit bags. 3 bats belong to David Warner, 2 to Mitchell Marsh, 3 to Phil Salt and 5 to Yash Dhull. Ahead of the game against KKR, the franchise was really upset by the turn of events. The franchise filed a complaint of mass stealing and somehow went through their practice session.

The franchise also sent an SOS to their bat makers requesting them to send extra bats because of what happened. There was some change in fortunes after the KKR game. It was a delayed start, but the DC bowlers brought their A-game to the party. Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets each in their respective spells. Warner had a shade of his dominating self against KKR.

The Australian made a stroke-filled 57 off 41 balls with 11 fours. KKR came back in the game on a not-so-typical pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. In the end, they broke their five-game losing streak and picked up two points to get off the mark in IPL 2023.
