Ravindra Jadeja ran riot over the Australian batting lineup as he picked up a seven-wicket haul against Australia in the second innings in the second Test at Delhi. He picked up the wickets of Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Peter Handscomb, Pat Cummins, Alex Carey, Nathan Lyon and Matt Kuhemann he changed the course of the game with his bowling. India missed Jadeja with the ball when he was injured.

Jadeja is a threatening bowler especially in Test Cricket once there is a little help on the surface and he uses the assistance of the pitch along with his razor-sharp lines and lengths to great effect. Jadeja had figures of 7-42 when Australia’s second innings ended, and he wreaked havoc over them. The all-rounder picked seven wickets in the first Test against the Kangaroos as well as the match ended in three days.

Ravindra Jadeja had also picked up seven wickets in the Test  at Nagpur against India

Jadeja had made a comeback into cricket after a long layoff from a knee injury for which he required surgery. To prove his fitness, he played a Ranji Trophy game for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu, where he picked up a seven-wicket haul in the match and bowled a long spell to show that he was back to a good bowling rhythm.

Jadeja also has made superb contributions with the bat so far in the series. In the first Test at Nagpur, he played a stellar knock of 70 off 185 balls, with nine fours and put up a vital partnership with Axar Patel when India were in dire straits at 240-7 to give India a 233-run lead. India, in the end, won the Test by an innings and 132 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

India have won the last three editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In 2017 the series was last played in India and since then there have been two editions in Australia in 2018 and 2021, where India have beaten the Kangaroos. Jadeja has been very impactful in those triumphs as well.
