Indian skipper Rohit Sharma had to go off the field during the third T20I against the West Indies. This created anxiety and worry on the faces of the loyal fans of the men in blue. With just a couple of months to go for the 20-20 World Cup 2022, Rohit needs to ensure that he attains full fitness and that he is good to go. He will have to lead the Men in Blue well with the bat in hand and also when he leads them in the field. From the point of view of the Men in Blue, Rohit must have no injury concerns.

The opener was batting on 11 off 5 deliveries after he smashed a six and a four early in the innings, but he looked a bit uncomfortable and then realized that he had pulled his hamstring. The Indian physio, Kamalesh Jain, arrived quickly at the scene and ensured that things are in right place with a lengthy conversation. After some notable suggestions from the physio, Rohit decided to walk away, he was clutching his back while doing so which would have made the fans have their heart in their mouth.

Later, it was revealed by BCCI that Rohit had a back spasm and he himself gave an update on the state of the injury in the post-match conference. “Team India captain Rohit Sharma has a back spasm. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his progress,” BCCI tweeted on Twitter.

Rohit emphasized that the injury looks all right at present and noted that having a few more days of rest until the next T20I starts in Florida will hold him in good stead. He was hopeful of attaining full fitness before the next game begins which is scheduled to take place on August 6th.

“At the moment, it’s okay. We’ve got a few days till the next game, hopefully, it should be okay,” Rohit told in the post-match presentation. The visitors have taken a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series, thanks to a superb innings from Suryakumar Yadav at the top of the order. The Mumbai batter scored a 44-ball 76 while chasing down the total of 165.
