‘Ashwin, cricket’s grandmaster’- Fans thrilled as Ravichandran Ashwin dismisses Smith and Labuschagne in one over in Delhi Test
Ravichandran Ashwin has been India’s match winner in Test Cricket since he made his debut in 2011 for India in Test Cricket. He has picked up 459 Test wickets for India with 31 five-wicket-hauls to his name. He has got the best bowling figures of 7-59. Besides, he has a stellar average of 24 with the ball for India.
He proved his greatness, once again, with the ball in the second Test at Delhi as he picked up the big wickets of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne in one over. The wicket of Labuschagne brought Ashwin his 700th first-class wicket. Australia were coasting at 94-0 at one stage in the Delhi Test before Mohammed Shami dismissed David Warner.
Then Ashwin dismissed Smith and Labuschagne to turn the score to 94-3 at the lunch interval. Ashwin has had the ability of breaking partnerships and getting the big wickets and has also repaid the faith shown by his captain Rohit Sharma. India won the first Test at Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs.
Ashwin had got to 450 wickets dismissing Alex Carey at Nagpur against Australia
The Delhi Test was also Cheteshwar Pujara’s 100th Test as he got a wonderful guard of honour which was a very sweet gesture from the Indian Team as a part of celebration to the historic landmark. The 35-year-old has been a match winner in Test Cricket for India, and he has had a cracking career in the white flannels for the national side.
Ashwin, recently, got to the 450-wicket milestone when he had dismissed Alex Carey at Nagpur. The man from Chennai has been doing stupendous stuff with the ball for India and has been an asset for Indian cricket in the red-ball format. He keeps looking to constantly make changes to his game and always be one step ahead of the batter.
He picked up eight wickets in the game at Nagpur and had the Australian’s spellbound with a high-class spin bowling spell that left the Australians awestruck as they did not know what hit them. Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
He is no longer Ash Anna. He is now Ash Vaathiyaar.
