Rishi Sunak, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, has said that the former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid is one of his favourite players. Talking about the short ball ploy of English bowlers in BBC TMC’s lunchtime show, Sunak talked about the approaches of batters from both the teams in the second test of Ashes at the home of cricket. When asked if the batters should sway, or duck-like Dravid, Sunak laughed and said “Rahul Dravid is one of my favourites. I really loved his technique, his attitude, and his personality”.

Rahul Dravid is considered to be one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the sport. Particularly in Test cricket, Dravid was adored. Fondly called ‘The wall of cricket’ by fans, Dravid has 13288 runs in 164 matches in Test cricket. The great batter averaged 52.31 and scored 36 hundred in Test cricket. In One Day Internationals, Dravid scored 10899 runs in 344 matches at an average of 39.17, including 10 hundred and 83 fifty.

Further, Sunak also described his experience of watching Sachin Tendulkar bat. “I was in India in 2008 when the terrorist attack happened. England’s cricket team had gone away. I had gone to a friend’s wedding. But England decided to come back and play a test in Chennai. I was there. Tendulkar scored massively in that run chase. Sadly, we lost and India won. It was good to see him bat” Sunak said in the show as the guest.

Sachin Tendulkar is regarded as the greatest cricketer in the history of the sport by many experts. Tendulkar holds many records in Cricket, including most runs in Tests and ODIs.
