It could be a huge year for team India as they have the Test Championship final and the World Cup in India coming up. This will be a great chance for the Men in Blue to break their trophy drought since 2013. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravi Shastri voiced their concerns about workload management in the Indian team. But the IPL chairman Arun Dhumal had a very different take on it and thundered at the two with a huge statement.

“The problem in our country is that whosoever makes money, be it a company or individual, he is seen with suspicion. Virat Kohli has been playing IPL for so many years, he’s never been injured. Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami never got injured. Does it have anything to do with the IPL?” Dhumal said in an interview to Indian Express.

For India’s sake the IPL workload needs to be managed – Ravi Shastri

“Shreyas Iyer got injured but not because of the IPL. Just because they make money through IPL, we start blaming IPL for anything and everything. Injuries are an integral part of any sport. Our badminton stars are getting injured. They don’t play in the IPL. There are so many stars who are coming from overseas and playing in the IPL.” He added and gave an insight as to when Shreyas Iyer had got injured.

Rohit had said that the ball is in the franchises court and that the player is entitled to do the franchises bidding. Rohit also said that the players would most likely not take breaks between games. He said that the players are matured beings and that they can take their own decisions relating to their body. He had said that in an interview after the Australia ODI series where India had lost 2-1 to the Kangaroos.

“You need that much cricket and you need to give certain break. Even if it happens to be IPL. Board has to take the stand there, tell the franchises, ‘listen, we need them. India need them. For India’s sake, if he doesn’t play those games, it will be good,” Ravi Shastri said in an interview to Sports Yaari.
