India’s young pace sensation Arshdeep Singh has been nominated for the Governing Body for International Cricket’s Men’s Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2022 award.

With 33 wickets under his belt, the 23-year-old is India’s second-highest wicket-taker for India in T20Is in 2022. At the 20-20 World Cup in Australia, Singh returned with the highest wickets for India.

The left-arm pacer has put the disappointment and trolling of Asia Cup 2022 behind him and has matured quickly to now become a mainstay in the Indian team. Alongside the Indian bowler Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran, South Africa pacer Marco Jansen and New Zealand opener Finn Allen have also been nominated for the prestigious award.

Zadran is the highest run-getter for the Afghanistan team in 2022. In 13 matches the right-handed batter has scored 367 runs at an average of 36.70 and the highest score of 64*. His batting exploits have also been carried over to the ODIs wherein he scored 431 runs in 7 matches.
South Africa’s Jansen is the second bowler on the list after he took 41 wickets. Just 22 years old, the bowler hasn’t played much white ball cricket with a total of 4 matches under his belt.

The last one on the list is New Zealand’s batter Finn Allen. In 11 matches the right-hand opener has scored 387 runs for the Kiwis in ODIs. He ranks third when it comes to the highest run-getters for his country in 2022.

High demand in Indian T20 League

The explosive batter has been retained by the Bangalore franchise for the upcoming Indian T20 League. Arshdeep Singh meanwhile has also been retained by the Punjab franchise for the upcoming Indian T20 League season. The North Indian franchise broke the auction record after buying Sam Curran for INR 18.25 Crore for the upcoming season.

South African bowler Jansen has been retained by the Hyderabad franchise for the Indian T20 League 2022 season.
