The two-match T20I international series between India and Ireland ended on 28th June with the visitors winning both the games. The Indian squad included many youngsters who were rewarded for their performances in the Indian T20 league 2022. While some of the players got a chance to play in the eleven, some warmed the bench.

After the rescheduled Test match against England, India are set to play three-match T20I series followed by a three-match One-Day series. The Indian cricket board has not yet announced the squad for the limited-overs series. It seems like some players who were in the squad for the T20 series versus Ireland will also get a chance to play the limited-overs series against England.

According to a report by SportsTiger, a few players including captain Hardik Pandya have been asked to wait in Ireland while the rest of the squad will be flying back to India as the 2-match T20I series against Ireland is concluded. Venkatesh Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Tripathi, and Ravi Bishnoi are some of the players from the squad that will be flying back to India.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Tripathi, Venkatesh Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi will fly back to India after the Ireland series. Rest players have been asked to wait,” a source was quoted as saying by SportsTiger. It must be noted that Only Umran Malik has been asked to stay back among the new players that were included in the squad. This could well mean that the Indian cricket board is looking to give more chances to the speedster ahead of the 20-20 world cup.

Malik finally got his maiden T20 international cap against Ireland, he only got to bowl a single over in the rain-curtailed first match. He picked up his maiden international wicket in the second T20 international and also bowled the final over and defended 17 runs for the team. Ever since his Indian T20 League debut, the seamer from Jammu & Kashmir has been touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket.
