In what would come as good news to Indian fans, reports have surfaced that Jasprit Bumrah could be back at full fitness come the 2023 ODI World Cup. The report states that Bumrah would be fully fit and available for the tournament. If the report is true, then it could help shore up India’s pace bowling attack. Bumrah has been sidelined with a back injury for a long time. The speedster underwent back surgery in New Zealand.

When Bumrah got injured, Rohit Sharma said in interviews that he is learning how to live without him. India do have fast bowling options other than Bumrah. This is due to the new fast bowling crop coming up from the IPL. But Indian players have been bearing the brunt of too many injuries. In the 2023 IPL, Chennai Super Kings are hampered by injuries. Mukesh Choudhary and Simarjeet Singh are a case in point.

India will be aiming to break their World Event drought in the 50-over World Cup at Home

Deepak Chahar has also been injured and is believed to have a layoff for more than a week. Shreyas Iyer also has had his fair share of back injuries over the past year.  Ajay Jadeja also talked about the rare phenomenon of batters having back injuries. Ravi Shastri had thundered that the Indian bowlers should get a permanent residency at the ‘NCA’ since the players were getting injured left, right and centre.

Bumrah had to miss the 20-20 World Cup in Australia due to a back injury. The India pace spearhead was out of action for the national side in the Asia Cup 2022 as well. India would want Bumrah back as the Men in Blue know that there is no substitute for experience. But, it remains to be seen what state or level of fitness and intensity will Bumrah be in when he dawns blue jersey yet again.

India will host the 50-over World Cup on home soil for the first time since 2011. The Men in Blue will be keen to end their drought in World events. India have not won a World event since 2013. The Rohit Sharma-led side will be hoping to change it come the 2023 World Cup.
