Apex Cricket Council reveals design of stadium ahead of 2024 T20 World Cup

Apex Cricket Council on Wednesday in a release revealed the New York stadium where 8 matches of the T20 World Cup will take place

Cricket has been ranked as the second-most populous sport in the world with over 2 billion fans worldwide but if we dig deeper then we will realize that the majority of the followers of this great sport are within the limited commonwealth countries that play this sport and in that also it is the most preferred sport only in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

But with the advent of T20 cricket, the popularity of Cricket is slowly penetrating other countries as well. The shortest format of the game is striking a chord with the fast-paced Western audiences and more countries are taking interest in the game which is one of the reasons why the Apex Cricket Council has allowed the US to co-host the upcoming T20 World Cup along with the West Indies.

Construction of the Stadium hasn’t begun yet

The US is being as one of the top emerging markets of cricket with many Indian and Pakistanorigin people residing there and growing the game there. It is one of the main reasons why the marquee India vs Pakistan match is going to take place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Apex Cricket Council on Wednesday in a release revealed the stadium where 8 matches of the T20 World Cup will take place along with the marquee India vs Pakistan match which is expected to be a full-house. But with only five months left for the World Cup the construction of the stadium hasn’t begun yet.

In individual statements, both the ICC and the architectural firm Populous announced that the commencement of the stadium’s construction is scheduled for February. The design for this ambitious project is led by Populous, a well-known firm recognized for crafting some of the most iconic stadiums globally, including the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

The facility will showcase more than 80,000 square feet of hospitality space, incorporating a party deck, fan suites, cabanas, and VIP clubs, ensuring an unparalleled experience for spectators. To elevate the overall event, a diverse array of food and beverage outlets will be strategically positioned, accompanied by designated media and broadcast areas, making it the largest ICC event to date. The stadium is designed to accommodate 34,000 fans. The New York stadium will use drop-in pitches, crafted by Adelaide Oval Turf Solutions, while the outfield will be prepared by the LandTek Group.
