Star India wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul made a comeback in the Indian squad after recovering from injury. However, he is still carrying a niggle and might not be able to play in the first one or two games of the Asia Cup 2023. Meanwhile, one of the biggest critics of Rahul Venkatesh Prasad met his father-in-law and Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty in the United States of America.

Both Shetty and Prasad went to a temple to pray for the Indian team for their upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup campaigns. Prasad took to Twitter on Tuesday to reveal details about his visit. He also said that he secretly prayed for KL Rahul’s health and performance in the upcoming prestigious tournaments.

He wrote, “I visited the Swami Narayan temple in New Jersey with Anna. I prayed for the well-being of all Bharatvas and for the Indian team to do well in the World Cup. I also secretly prayed for KL to smash it to all corners, have a great World Cup, and silence his critics like me. Sab khush rahein.” It’s worth noting that Rahul will be playing in a competitive game for the first time in four months.

Venkatesh Prasad had brutally criticised KL Rahul in the past

Earlier this year, Prasad did not let go of a single chance to criticise the performance of KL Rahul. He slammed his batting approach in Test matches against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Due to his critical approach, former India opener Aakash Chopra had an argument with him on the social media platform Twitter. Both former legends put forth their points and let fans judge who was correct.

However, with his new approach to Rahul and his support for the Indian team, it will be interesting to see how things unfold in the future. India will start their Asia Cup campaign on September 2 against Pakistan in Pallekele. After the tournament, the team will host Australia in a three-match ODI series to fine-tune their preparations for the prestigious ODI World Cup. The marquee tournament will kick off with England taking on New Zealand in Ahmedabad on October 5.
