History was etched on the dusty tracks of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai today as India’s women’s cricket team pulled off a stunning victory against Australia, their first-ever win in a Test match against the formidable Aussies.

The day started with Australia’s score being 233-5 in the second innings, leading India by 46 runs. The visitors required a special effort from the remaining batters to give their bowlers a reasonable target to defend. However, they lost their last 5 wickets for just 28 runs setting India a target of 75. India eclipsed the target in just 18.4 overs with 8 wickets still in the bank. Sneh Rana was adjudged the player-of-the-match for her match haul of 7 wickets.

This historic victory marks a significant moment for Indian women’s cricket. It not only shatters a long-standing mental barrier but also sends a powerful message of resilience and determination. The Indian team, with their fighting spirit and unwavering belief, has proven that they can compete and conquer even the toughest opponents. This win is not just a victory on the field, but a triumph for the spirit of Indian women’s cricket, and its echoes will reverberate for years to come.

Healy’s heartwarming gesture

In a display of sportsmanship, Alyssa Healy, the Australian captain, amidst the elation of the Indian team’s trophy celebrations, was spotted taking pictures of them. Witnessing the Australian captain capture photos of the jubilant Indian team after their victory was a heartwarming moment that transcended the competitive spirit of the game. Her gesture of graciousness in defeat resonated deeply with fans and pundits alike, solidifying her reputation as a true sportsperson.

After the game, Alyssa Healy told the press that she grabbed the camera from one of the cameramen because they weren’t allowed near the players. With playful enthusiasm, she admitted to accidentally framing the picture so tightly that half the Indian team ended up out of sight. “It wasn’t my camera. They were pushing the cameramen back so I thought I’d give one of them an opportunity to get a close shot of the celebrations. I actually cut off half of the Indian team by accident so I don’t think they’ll be using it,” she said.
