Star Australia wicketkeeper batter Alyssa Healy has revealed her choice of team for the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League saying that she would love to represent the Bangalore franchise.

Speaking at the Australia Cricket Awards, the 32-year-old said that it would be nice if she’s picked by Bangalore for the inaugural season of the premier women’s T20 competition in India. Interestingly, Healy’s husband, fast bowler Mitchell Starc, also played for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League. He was a part of the 2014 and 2015 seasons for the franchise.

“It is going to be a very exciting period of 12 months, it’s going to be tough but exciting. (On Women’s T20 League auction) Beggars can’t be choosers, I reckon. I’m in the auction so we’ll see where I’ll end up but it will be a nice touch to go to Bangalore,” said Healy.

Indian Cricket Board announced the names of five franchise owners in the Women’s T20 League last week. The tournament is expected to revolutionise the Women’s cricket landscape in the country.

The five successful bidders for the inaugural season of the Women’s T20 League include Adani Sportsline Pvt Ltd (Ahmedabad), Indiawin Sports Pvt Ltd (Mumbai), Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd (Bangalore), JSW GMR Cricket Pvt Ltd (Delhi) and Capri Global Holdings Pvt Ltd. (Lucknow).

The Indian Cricket Board announced that the rights for the teams were sold at Rs. 4669.99 crores, which is higher than the Indian T20 League rights back in the inaugural season back in 2008.

Ahmedabad is the most expensive franchise in Women’s T20 League

Adani Sportsline paid a whopping Rs 1289 crore for the Ahmedabad team, which turned out to be the most expensive franchise. Mumbai, Bangalore, and Delhi entered the Women’s T20 League with bids of Rs 912.99 crore, Rs 901 crore, and Rs 810 crore, respectively. Capri Global Holdings paid Rs 757 crore for the Lucknow franchise.

The Women’s T20 League is expected to be held in March, right ahead of the Indian T20 League season. Big stars are expected to play in the inaugural edition, which will be a massive occasion for India in women’s cricket.

The Indian Cricket Board sold the media rights of the Women’s T20 League to Viacom18 earlier this month for Rs 951 crore, or Rs 7.09 crore per match for five years.
