Former Real Madrid‘s legendary footballer Karim Benzema has joined Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) and the club has made an official announcement for it. The Frenchman, who is currently the Ballon d’Or winner, ended his illustrious time playing for Madrid. In an unexpected change of events, Benzema quit Los Blancos and will now compete in the Saudi Pro League.

In the 2022–23 season, Benzema’s new team, Al-Ittihad, won the SPL. The current Al-Ittihad contract for Benzema is valid till the completion of the 2025–26 campaign. According to reports, the Frenchman will make about INR 1768 crores a year. The Frenchman will be playing for a squad that just won the Arab League by defeating the legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s led team Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, who had just faced Real Madrid and Karim Benzema in the Club World Cup final six months prior.

Meanwhile, if we break down Benzema’s salary, here is what it’d be looked like. He will reportedly earn close to INR 1768 crores per season, which is divided into the following amounts: INR 147 crores per month, INR 36 crores per week, INR 5 crores per day, INR 21 lakhs per hour, INR 36,524 per minute, and INR 610 per second.

Where will Lionel Messi be heading towards?

Benzema’s former Madrid teammate and legendary footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently playing for Saudi Pro League team Al Nassr, has a contract that is just a little bit more than Benzema’s with Al Ittihad. According to reports, Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nassr is worth INR 1884 crores a year, the majority of which comes from image rights and only a little portion from football-related activities. That is probably also true of Benzema’s agreement with Al Ittihad.

While talking about another legendary footballer Lionel Messi’s contract, he was at PSG and his contract was very less than Benzema’s, reportedly for INR 338 crores a year for two years with an option for a third. This summer, Messi left PSG and turned down that offer and his new wage will be decided soon. He is supposedly wanted by Barcelona, and a Saudi club is also willing to pay a hefty sum to get his services.
