Fans were left unhappy after the India Cricket Team started their South African tour with an abandoned game. The first T20I match in Durban saw little action before the game was called off due to rain. Both the players and the fans will now look forward to the second game of the series. The match is set to be hosted in Gqeberha on Tuesday with the series now becoming a 2-match series.
There were Cricket fans in South Africa who had come to see the Indian Cricket Team in action. Suryakumar Yadav and his side had recently beaten the mighty Australians at home. The series was a perfect tune-up for the men in blue for the 2024 T20 World Event.
Team India is playing just 6 T20 Games before the mega event in West Indies next June. After waiting for over two hours the game was finally called off. It was a frustrating day as the fans in the stand couldn’t even get a glimpse of their favourite icons.
Toss was delayed as both teams made their way to the ground a on wet Sunday evening in Durban. Persistent downpours meant that both sides were locked in their rooms having a chat. At no point in the day did the rain look like letting go which forced the umpires to call an early end to proceedings.
Deepak Chahar is set to be doubtful for the upcoming 3-match ODI series against South Africa. The pacer flew back home before the final T20I against Australia to be with his ill father.
As per a source in the Indian Cricket Board, the 31-year-old has sought a break from the board. This is due to his father’s health condition which has needed some urgent medical attention. The board member also revealed that Deepak Chahar is still in India and hasn’t boarded the flight to South Africa yet.
During a recent media interaction, Deepak Chahar stressed the need to be with his father. According to the Indian pacer, the well-being of his father is paramount after everything his father had done for him.
