Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has not had the best of times as now reports have come in that he would be out of action for a six-month period. This means that Bumrah will most likely return in action only in September and this means, he would miss the Indian T20 League and also the Test Championship final should India qualify.

According to a report from Cricbuzz, Bumrah will take at least 20 to 24 weeks to recover and if that happens he could only get back into action on the cricket field in September. It is learnt that Bumrah will most probably fly to New Zealand for back surgery. The National Cricket Academy have looked at a Kiwi surgeon Rowan Schouten, who is a Kiwi and was recommended by Shane Bond.

Schoten is a big name and is very famous when it comes to the conduct of back surgeries. The man from New Zealand is said to have worked with the likes of Jason Behrendoff, James Pattinson and Jofra Archer. Bumrah last played in the third T20I against Australia which was a bilateral series and also missed the T20I and ODI series against South Africa after that.

The right-arm-pacer also missed the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. He was initially named in the squads for the series against New Zealand but he was not given clearance from the NCA to continue playing. It was also ascertained from various reports that Bumrah was not able to bear higher workloads while bowling.

Bumrah will be missed by his Indian T20 League franchise, Mumbai, for whom he has been an absolute superstar. However, Mumbai’s fast bowling services have been bolstered by the inclusion of Jofra Archer, who played in the SA20 for MI Cape Town and is now playing a one-day series against Bangladesh. India have to look ahead without Bumrah for a sufficient period.
