Deepak Chahar finally showed some sort of form as he put Delhi Capitals on the back foot at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium. He set the tone upfront for Chennai Super Kings. He dismissed David Warner on the second ball of his first over to give a wonderful start. Then, he took the prized wicket of Phil Salt in his second over to hand the early blows to DC. The right armer bowled a spell of 2-28 in his three overs.

In an interview after the game, this is what he said: “I am not 100% fit but I am trying my best, I get injured and need to start from zero every time”.  Chahar has been injury prone and has had back problems. He played the first few games in the IPL and then injuries forced him to miss some part of the IPL. The 30-year-old has not been at his best in terms of fitness and has still not got back to full fitness.

Chennai Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by 27 runs at the Chepauk in IPL 2023

CSK won their last game against DC at home and now has 15 points. They are currently in second place on the points table. They beat DC by a comfortable margin of 27 runs at the Chepauk. On a pitch which did not showcase the best of batting conditions, the CSK batters hit timely cameos to ensure that they got to a sizable total of 167-8 in their 20 overs. Shivam Dube made an entertaining 25 off 12 balls with three sixes. Ambati Rayudu made 23 off 17 balls with one four and one six.

Mitchell Marsh was the best bowler for DC as he picked up 3-18 in his three overs. DC was no match for CSK on home turf as they could muster only 140 for  the fall of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Rilee Rossouw made 35 off 37 balls with two fours and one six. Manish Pandey put up 27 off 29 balls with one four and two sixes.

DC is sitting last on the points table at the moment with four wins and seven losses. DC was found wanting on a typical Chepauk track. It has been baffling as to why DC has pushed Axar Patel so far down the order given his current form. Axar has put out noteworthy performances with bat and ball for DC.
