Cheteshwar Pujara- 206* (Delhi, 2012)

Cheteshwar Pujara was one of the very few positives for the Indian team when England visited their shores back in 2012. India were beaten 2-1 thanks to the heroics of Kevin Pietersen, Sir Alastair Cook, Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann. However, in Pujara, India found someone who would go on to become a rock of the batting line-up for most of the next decade. Pujara’s unbeaten 206 in the first Test in Ahmedabad helped India take early honours in the series.

The innings epitomized Pujara’s unwavering concentration and ability to grind down the opposition. He batted for over 525 deliveries, his defense unyielding. He gradually grew in confidence, punishing loose deliveries with his characteristic pull shots. he then had an unbeaten 41 in the second innings to take India past the finish line.
