ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023: Top 3 Players to Watch Out For

The ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 will kick off on July 13. Eight teams will lock horns with each other, and the matches will be played in the 50-over format. Nepal, UAE and Oman will play in the tournament along with the full-fledged teams which are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India. Sri Lanka have tasted a lot of success in the tournament as they won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018.

Pakistan are the defending champion in this tournament and India have won the title of this tournament only once when the inaugural edition happened in 2013. There will be two groups of four. The top two sides from each group will make to the semi-finals following which there will be a round-robin. The winner of the last four games will end up getting the championship. The tournament will be televised on Star Sports and digitally streamed on Fan Code.

Dunith Wellalage the former U-19 captain made his debut for the Sri Lankan national side in June 2022. He has played nine ODIs and scored 107 runs. Wellalage is a left-handed batter and also bowls left-arm orthodox. He also picked up 9 wickets with the ball in nine games for the national side. He will be looking to make a good impression in this tournament and dominate the opposing sides in home conditions. He will want to use this tournament as a springboard to cement his place in the national side.
