Pakistan and England locked horns in the third game of the seven-match T20I series in Karachi. The game was played exactly 24 hours after the second T20I at the same venue. The visitors decided to rest Alex Hales, David Willey, and Luke Wood. They were replaced by Will Jacks (debutant), Reece Topley, and Mark Wood. On the other hand, the Green Brigade decided to go with an unchanged team.

The home team won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Three Lions lost the wicket of Phil Salt (8) in the third over. He was caught by Mohammad Nawaz off Mohammad Hasnain. Dawid Malan and Jacks stitched a partnership of 43 runs. The latter could only score 14 runs and was caught by Haider Ali trying to hit a six on a long hop against Usman Qadir.

Jacks (40) was impressive on his debut but became the second victim of Qadir. At 82/3, Ben Duckett and Harry Brook stitched an unbeaten partnership of 139 runs to take the team to 221/3. Duckett scored 70 while Brook got 81.

Pakistan was never in the game

The Babar Azam-led side had a poor start as they lost four wickets for 28 runs in 5.3 overs. The last match heroes, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan failed to cross the double-digit mark. Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed got out to Mark Wood and Sam Curran. Wood was generating a disconcerting pace in his comeback game.

During the West Indies vs England Test series in March this year, he got injured and didn’t play any competitive game for a few months. AT 28/4, Khushdil Shah and Shan Masood stitched a partnership of 62 runs. The former scored 29 off 21 before being caught at long-on by Brook off Adil Rashid. On the other hand, Masood scored an unbeaten 65 off 40 balls while others failed. The team was restricted to 156/8, losing the game by 63 runs. With this, England is now leading the series 2-1. The next game will be played on September 25.
