The India-Pakistan fixture for the 2023 ODI World Cup is likely to be rescheduled as per reports. According to the earlier schedule which was finalised by the Indian Cricket Board and the Cricket Governing Body the two sides were initially supposed to lock horns on October 15. But according to some reports, there will be a big change for the marquee clash which will mean that they would not be facing each other on that day as it is the first day of Navaratri.

If the date of the game is changed then it will be a big hurdle to the travel plans of all the fans who have already booked flights and accommodations to watch the India-Pakistan fixture. There were also some reports earlier that some Non-Resident Indians (NRI) have enquired about making potential bookings at hospital beds so that they could watch the game and also use the available health facilities. Also if the rescheduling takes place there would be a lot of cancellations of hotel bookings.

The Narendra Modi Stadium will host the opening ODI World Cup game against England and New Zealand

“We are mulling the options that we have and a decision will be taken soon. We have been told by the security agencies that a high-profile game like India vs Pakistan, for which thousands of travelling fans are expected to reach Ahmedabad, should be avoided since they will be stretched because of Navratri,” A report from the Indian Express stated. The report further stated that Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah has called for a meeting for all the members of the host venues which will be held on July 27 in New Delhi.

“I feel it will be in the best interest of all concerned that we meet again to exchange notes and take stock of any issue which needs discussion and decision. Accordingly, you are hereby requested to attend a meeting of the World Cup hosting associations,”  The letter read. The Narendra Modi Stadium will host the opening game against England and New Zealand and also the ODI World Cup final.
