A while back some reports indicated that Justin Langer could become the new head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). There has been a lot of talk about it on social media and there has also been a lot of chatter about who might go out of the LSG franchise ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Andy Flower was the head coach of the side for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Under Flower, LSG made it to the playoffs twice in their first two years.

On another note, there are some reports stating that Gautam Gambhir is in talks with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to come back into the fold as head coach for IPL 2024. Gambhir had a fruitful IPL career at KKR as he led them to two titles in 2012 and 2014. Then in 2018, he went back to the Delhi Capitals as captain. The switch was not the best for Gambhir as he stepped down midway through the season and Shreyas Iyer took over as captain.

Gautam Gambhir scored 3035 runs for Kolkata Knight Riders from 2011 to 2017 as batter and captain

For KKR, Gambhir was their lynchpin for many years as he helped groom talents like Suryakumar Yadav and many others. When it came to making runs, Gambhir scored 3035 runs from 2011 to 2017 at an average of 31.61 and at a strike rate of 124.28. He hit 27 fifties for the franchise.  The current head coach of KKR is Chandrakant Pandit, who was appointed in the 2023 season. KKR, in that season, finished in seventh place on the points table.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side (Nitish Rana in 2023) could register only six wins in 2023 and had eight losses to show. The silver lining for them was Varun Chakravarthy was back in form. They found new gems like Harshit Rana. Rinku Singh showed what he could do singlehandedly through the course of the 2023 season.

KKR last had a noteworthy season in IPL in 2021, where they fared well in the second half which was held in the UAE amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. They finished runners-up to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). CSK won their fourth IPL title that season. Venkatesh Iyer was the find of the 2021 season for KKR.
