Shubman Gill blazed to his 6^th ODI century as he continued his good run of form on Sunday. Gill had already scored a ton against New Zealand at the start of 2023. The right-handed batter now has 1230 runs from 20 games with 5 centuries and 5 fifties. Gill has an average of 72 and a strike-rate of 105 for the calendar year 2023 in ODI cricket.

The Indian cricket board has decided to rest the young Indian opener along with Shardul Thakur. The two will not play the final ODI against Australia at Rajkot on Wednesday. The moves come in a bid to keep the team fresh for the upcoming ODI World Cup.

India on Sunday won their first ODI series at home against Australia for 6 years. KL Rahul and his side beat Australia by 99 runs at Indore. The win now gives India an unassailable 2-0 lead and their 7^th win at Indore.

Timely rest for Shubman Gill as Rohit and Virat prepare for a comeback

The Indian Cricket Board has asked Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur to rest for the final ODI at Rajkot. The pair have played non-stop cricket for the last few months. Thakur was disappointed with the ball on Sunday. The 31-year-old gave away 35 runs without picking a wicket from his 4 overs.

Rohit Sharma the Indian skipper is all set to join the squad for the Rajkot ODI. Former India skipper Virat Kohli too is set to be part of the game. The veteran Indian pair were rested for the first two games of the series.

Another player who will make his comeback during the Rajkot game is Jasprit Bumrah. The Indian pace bowler had flown home on Sunday to be with his family. It is expected that Bumrah will be back for Wednesday’s game and likely replace Prasidh Krishna in the XI.

Ravichandran Ashwin on Sunday put up a strong performance with the ball. The veteran spin bowler has made a comeback after injury to Axar Patel. In case the 29-year-old does not recover in time, Ashwin could very well be part of the Indian-15 for the ODI World Cup.
