Aakash Chopra was criticized by former Indian speedster Venkatesh Prasad for purposefully misquoting him during a discussion on KL Rahul on his YouTube show on Tuesday. Prasad responded to Chopra’s claim that the fast bowler had a personal grudge towards the underperformed Rahul with a harsh post on Twitter.

Rahul has received harsh criticism from Prasad due to the star batter’s poor performance in Test cricket. According to the 53-year-old, the former vice-captain didn’t deserve to be in the Indian Test XI, who also accused the Indian team of showing “favoritism.” Prasad even claimed in a series of tweets that Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan did not receive lengthy ropes like Rahul despite their prior success for India as the opener.

Earlier, the former Indian cricketer criticised the Team India skipper Rohit Sharma that he should not open the inning in the longest format of the game. He asseted this with a statement “Jiska kaam ussi ko saajhe. Agar ghar me light jayegi toh aap electrician ko hi toh bolayoge, plumber ko thodi na (Horses for courses. If the light goes off in the house, you will only call the electrician, not the plumber).

I have no agenda against any player: Venkatesh Prasad

Even during the Delhi Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia was taking place, Prasad continued to criticize Rahul. Chopra had replied to Prasad’s tweet, requesting with the former fast bowler not to post against Rahul during the game. Chopra went one step further and said that Prasad had cleverly used Mayank Aggarwal, Shikhar Dhawan, and Shubman Gill’s performances to support his claims against the star India opener. Chopra analyzed the stats Prasad published on Twitter, presented an explanation against them, and supported Rahul in a video titled “How Terrible is KL Rahul’s Test form?”

“So my friend Aakash Chopra after making a vile video on YouTube this morning where he calls me an agenda peddle, conveniently and cleverly misquotes me, removes Mayank’s average of 70 at home, wants to gag views which are not in line with what he believes but wanted Rohit out,” Prasad said.

“I have no agenda against any player, maybe there are others who have. Difference of opinion is fine but calling contrary views as apna personal agenda and Twitter par mat laayein is funny for @cricketaakash, considering he has made a great career by airing his views. Have nothing against KL or any other player, my voice has been against unfair selection and different yardsticks for performers. Be it Sarfaraz or Kuldeep, have voiced based on merit. But it was disappointing to see Aakash calling it personal agenda,” Prasad added.
