‘Aap log rona band kijiye’ – Fans react as Pakistan lose Bronze medal Cricket match against Bangladesh in Asian Games 2023

Bangladesh and Pakistan locked horns in the rain-affected bronze medal match of the men’s cricket competition in the Asian Games 2023. Both teams played this match at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field in Hangzhou on Saturday. Bangladesh skipper Saif Hassan won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first.

Due to the continuous intervention by rain, the match was reduced to 5 overs per side. On the back of opener Mirza Baig’s knock of 32 runs off just 18 balls, alongside Khushdil Shah’s 14 off 10, Pakistan managed to post a total of 48 runs for the loss of one wicket in the allotted 5 overs.

While chasing the target, Bangladesh were given a revised target of 65 runs in 5 overs, which they chased down comfortably in the given overs with no balls remaining, scoring 65 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Middle-order batter Yasir Ali played a match-defining knock of 34 runs off just 16 balls, with 3 fours and 2 sixes with the willow. Other than him, opener Afif Hossain also played a crucial knock of 20 runs off 11 balls, hitting 3 fours and a six.

Eventually, Bangladesh won the match by 6 wickets and clinched the bronze medal in the men’s cricket competition of the Asian Games 2023. Arshad Iqbal scalped 3 wickets for Pakistan in the second innings, conceding 14 runs in his quota of 2 overs. Other than him, Sufiyan Muqeem also claimed one wicket but he went very expensive for his side as he conceded 32 runs in just 2 overs. Arafat Minhas also conceded 15 runs in his one-over.

Apart from this bronze medal match, India and Afghanistan are currently locking horns in the gold medal match and the final of the men’s cricket competition of the ongoing Asian Games 2023.
