‘Aam Insaan ko kuch nahi milega’ – Fans react as reports of Indian Cricket Board getting free hospitality tickets for ODI World Cup surface

With the 2023 ODI World Cup set to take place in India in October, preparations are on in full swing for the event. The World Cup schedule which was released recently is likely to be changed. The India-Pakistan game will not be the only fixture that would be moved. The new schedule with the changes made is likely to come out shortly. When it comes to the matter of tickets, the Indian Cricket Board hopes to begin the online sale of tickets after August 10. The hosting associations are yet to conclude ticket pricing.

When the Indian Cricket Board met up with the state associations, they came to an agreement that each state association would have to reserve a certain number of tickets for the Indian Cricket Board and the Cricket Governing Body, As per the provision, the Indian Cricket Board and Cricket Governing Body will have 300 hospitality tickets in hand per game. Also, each state association will hand out 500 general tickets for free to the Indian Cricket Board.

The Indian Cricket Board has also informed that if they or the Cricket Governing Body want to buy tickets over and above the specified limit, then the state association must cater to it. The association will also have to provide 1295 tickets for league games, and 1355 tickets for India fixtures and semi-final games to the Cricket Governing Body. In the meeting the Indian Cricket Board also laid emphasis on food products which were of good quality, bearing proper hygiene and reasonable pricing.

“We have also tied up with Coca-Cola to provide complimentary water at each stadium,” Jay Shah said. The state associations will have to use and erect proper signboards and also lay down plans in place when it comes to the disposal of waste. When the 2011 World Cup was held, it was staged during summer. With rains prevalent during the months of October and November, the association will have to ensure that proper covers for the ground are available.
