‘Aaj Yashasvi Jaiswal kya khake aaya tha?’ – Fans in disarray as RR tear apart KKR with thumping 9-wicket win in IPL
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) locked horns against each other at the Eden Gardens on Thursday in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bowl first. They got off to a disastrous start as Jason Roy went early to Trent Boult for just 10 off 8 balls with two fours. Rahamanullah Gurbaz was Boult’s second victim for just 18. Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana restored some parity to the innings. Iyer made a stroke-filled 57 off 42 balls with two fours and four sixes.
He fell to Yuzvendra Chahal after playing a good knock. Rana was Chahal’s second wicket, who perished after making just 22 off 17 balls with two fours. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh did not have a good day in the office as Russell fell to KM Asif for just a run-a-ball 10 with one six. Rinku was no match for Chahal’s guile as he departed for just 16 off 18 balls with one six. Chahal scalped Shardul Thakur to pick up a superb four-wicket haul.
Rajasthan Royals chase down target in 13.1 overs
KKR somehow scrambled to 149-8 in their 20 overs. Yuzvendra Chahal became the leading wicket-taker in the IPL after his four-wicket haul against KKR. In the second innings, it was the annihilation of the highest order as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson tore the KKR bowling unit apart.
The left-hander made a sublime unbeaten 98 off 47 balls with 13 fours and five sixes. It was the batting of the highest class. Jaiswal also broke the record for the fastest IPL fifty. He got to a half-century off just 13 balls. At the other end, Sanju Samson, the RR skipper was equally destructive as well. The right-hander made a stunning unbeaten 48 off 29 balls with two fours and five sixes.
With this fantastic win, RR proved that they are back in business and will do well in this edition. KKR have been brought down to earth due to a dominating performance from RR as they came out firing on all cylinders. A loss like this will hurt KKR a lot. RR won the game by nine wickets and got to the target in just 13.1 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Samson,Ruturaj,Rinku..
Always wondered what would happen to Indian cricket when the greats of the game retire. Thanks to the IPL and Ranji tournaments, we have always found players to fill the void. #KKRvRR #KKRvsRR— Shashank (@Shashank97says) May 11, 2023

If Yashasvi Jaiswal didn't open for India in World Cup 2023, it would be India's loss, not his. #KKRvsRR .#KKRvRR pic.twitter.com/V8qjjBntFr
