‘ Aaj toh sirf Naagin dance hoga’ – Fans react as Bangladesh defeat Afghanistan by six wickets in ODI World Cup 2023

After Afghanistan chose to bat first, they were bowled out for 156, with stellar performances from Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

Bangladesh had a successful start as they defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in Match 3 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala. After Afghanistan chose to bat first, they were bowled out for 156, with stellar performances from Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. In response, Bangladesh chased down the target in 34.4 overs, securing victory.

Despite a challenging start with the early losses of Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das, Bangladesh recovered thanks to a pivotal 97-run partnership between Mehidy Hasan Miraz (57 off 73) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (59 off 83). This partnership rejuvenated Bangladesh, ensuring a commanding position in the game. Although Miraz was dismissed in the 29th over, it proved too late for Afghanistan as Shanto guided Bangladesh to a convincing win, highlighting their strong start in the tournament under the leadership of Shakib Al Hasan.

This win would definitely give a huge confidence to the Bangladesh team who had an average Asia Cup campaign. In fact, before coming into the tournament the Bangladesh side even lost the home series which they played against the New Zealand team. For his all-round performance, Miraz was also adjourned as Player of the Match.
