‘A minute of silence for people who missed this match’- Twitter in meltdown as Rinku Singh smashes 5 sixes in last over to win topsy-turvy GT vs KKR match

The Narendra Modi stadium in IPL 2023 witnessed an enthralling match between GT and KKR on Friday. Despite being without their permanent captain Hardik Pandya, GT came out all guns blazing and made a mammoth total of 204/4 in the first innings.

Vijay Shankar was the top scorer for GT as he smashed 63 off just 24 balls, hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. Sai Sudharsan also continued his excellent form, scoring 53 off 38 balls. KKR, on the other hand, had a shaky start and lost early wickets.

However, Venkatesh Iyer turned the game on its head with a brilliant innings of 83 off just 40 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. KKR was in a strong position at one point, and it seemed that they would chase down the mammoth target with ease.

But Rashid Khan, who was leading the GT team in the absence of Pandya, had other ideas. In the 17th over, he took a hattrick and brought GT right back into the game. With the score at 168/6, KKR needed 37 runs off the last three overs.

The game seemed all but over when KKR needed 29 runs off the final over. However, Rinku Singh had different plans. He smashed five sixes off Yash Dayal’s over and clinched a sensational win for KKR. Rinku Singh played a brilliant knock of 31 off just 9 balls and helped KKR chase down the target with a ball to spare.

In the end, it was a great game of cricket, and both teams should be commended for putting up an excellent performance. Venkatesh Iyer’s brilliant knock and Rashid Khan’s hattrick were some of the highlights of the game. However, Rinku Singh’s fantastic last over ensured that KKR came out on top in what was a nail-biting finish.
