‘Extended cut kaha hai?’ – Netizens react as makers release the Bobby Deol and Ranbir Kapoor starrer movie Animal on Netflix

The highly anticipated OTT release of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s hit family crime drama Animal has been anticipated by fans. It’s because they want to see the “extended cut” of the movie that the director promised them in addition to reliving their theatrical experience. Nevertheless, when the Netflix India version didn’t provide any additional content, viewers were disappointed.

As soon as they saw the duration of Animal, which debuted on Netflix India on Friday, fans were quickly disappointed. Like the theatrical version, it lasted three hours and twenty-four minutes. Second, the audience was even more disappointed when they saw the dramatic showdown between Bobby Deol’s antagonist Abrar and Ranbir Kapoor’s protagonist Rannvijay on the airstrip—as Sandeep had promised following the film’s theatrical release—because there was no “kiss” between the two actors.

In a Galatta Plus interview, Sandeep stated, “Yes, actually there was a kiss. Bobby will kiss Ranbir, a kiss on the cheek, and say, ‘Bhai, I didn’t even spend one day with my father’, and he’ll go back and open his zip. It was superb when we were shooting, but I felt like the kiss was diluting the zip. Why I removed it was because Bobby sir gave this expression with a smirk, and a tear fell down his cheek. I felt that was a bigger cinematic high than coming and kissing.”

Just finished watching ‘Animal’ on Netflix. No wonder it was criticized heavily for its controversial scenes. But by no means it’s boring or waste of time like some portrayed. If you keep controversy aside, it’s one of greatest entertainer of all time. #AnimalOnNetflix hats off!!
