Team India is all set to announce the squad for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be played in India. As the last date for announcing the ODI World Cup squad is nearing, the teams are gearing up to announce their squads. So, the teams are finalizing their injured and fit players to have a clear picture of themselves. Likewise, India has finalized the date and time to announce their squad for the tournament.
According to the reports, India will announce its squad on the 5th of September, exactly a month before the commencement of the ODI World Cup. At 1:30 PM, India will host a press conference in Kandy and announce the squad for the big tournament. Hearing the news, the fans are excited to know which players will make the eventual cut in the squad.
While there is no bound for the excitement of the fans, things might go bad if the management decides to make controversial picks. Although there are not any such possibilities, some of the selections might raise questions. For instance, Yuzvendra Chahal is most likely to not be in the squad, which might be liked by the fans. Similarly, Sanju Samson might not make the cut as well.
Possible snubs in the Indian ODI World Cup 2023 squad
The fact that Ishan Kishan has shown his ability to perform in the middle order and the return of KL Rahul will mean the end of the road for Samson. It will be interesting to see how many pacers India will have in their lineup. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Kuldeep Yadav seem to be the obvious choices. The same cannot be said about Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishna.
The presence of spin-bowling All-rounders like Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel almost confirms the exclusion of Chahal. Ishan Kishan can act as a backup for both the opening spot and the middle-order spot. It is a big plus for the Indian team, as he can fulfil dual roles with his presence in the squad.
