Indian women’s cricket team clashed against Bangladesh in the 3rd and final ODI of the 3-match ODI series on Saturday, July 22 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Hosts Bangladesh displayed an impressive performance in the ODI series as they secured a 1-1 draw in the ODI series after the 3rd ODI ended up in a tie.
Talking about the match, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Openers Shamima Sultana and Fargana Hoque produced a brilliant start with a 93-run opening stand. Shamima departed in the 27th over after smashing a half-century which included 5 fours. While Fargana smashed a century and scored 107 runs which included 7 fours.
Indian bowlers were only able to take 4 wickets and Bangladesh ended up scoring 225 runs after playing 50 overs. Sneh Rana picked up 2 wickets after conceding 45 runs in her 10 overs quota. Devika Vaidya also picked up a wicket and conceded only 42 runs in her 10 overs quota. Apart from them, every bowler went wicketless.
Chasing the target, India once again started horribly as they lost 2 wickets on the score of just 32 runs inside the powerplay. However, later, Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol steadied the ship and stitched a 107-run stand for the 3rd wicket. Mandhana departed after scoring 59 runs while Deol got run out on 77 runs.
However, they set the foundation for a successful chase but the lower middle order batters failed miserably and the match ended up in a draw. Indian skipper Harmanpreet talked about the contest in the post-match conference and lashed out at the umpires for their poor decisions.
“I think a lot of learning for us from the game. Even apart from the cricket, the kind of umpiring that was happening we were very surprised. The next time we come to Bangladesh we will make sure we have to deal with this type of umpiring and prepare ourselves accordingly.” Harmanpreet was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
