Sachin’s way of politely saying, ‘Aee Vedya…’Fans react as Sachin Tendulkar files police complaint over fake advertisement case

Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Friday lodged a complaint with the Mumbai Police. This was done because of the “unauthorized” use of his name, photo and voice in “misleading advertisements”, said the official statement. A case has been slapped by the Cyber Cell of the Mumbai Police. They have registered a case against an unidentified person under sections 426, 465 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In the complaint, Tendulkar claimed in detail how the advertisements were used without proper authorisation. This has affected and forced citizens into buying products and services online.  Tendulkar is currently with the Mumbai Indians.  MI beat Gujarat Titans in their last game in IPL 2023 at the Wankhede by 27 runs to stay in the race for the IPL playoffs. Tendulkar is the team icon of MI from 2014.

“At SRT Sports Management Pvt. Ltd. (SRTSM), we have noticed that there have been attempts to impersonate Mr Sachin Tendulkar’s attributes in an unauthorized manner, for selling products and services not associated with him. These are being done with a deliberate and malicious intention of misleading gullible citizens to buy unauthorised products and services online, ” SRSTM said in their statement.

“We have lodged an official complaint with the Cyber Cell department and have highlighted these to social media platforms where such misleading advertisements are being broadcast,” the statement read further. The Mumbai Police has filed an FIR on the matter and the investigation is currently underway.  He also found a website, sachinhealth.in, which promoted these products using his photo.

Tendulkar had not granted the green signal to the company to use his name and photo. Also, the incident was causing a major dent in Tendulkar’s image. He passed on an instruction to his legal aid to proceed and take action. Tendulkar has played 200 tests for India and has had a long career spanning over 20 years. The little master played his last test in 2013 against the West Indies at the Wankhede on home soil in Mumbai.
