Stephen Gerrard, who was a former manager at the Rangers, has been in the news for being tipped as the next probable successor as the manager at Paris Saint Saint-Germa-German after being dismissed at Aston Villa. Gerrard was shown the door after Aston Villa won just two games out of their opening 12 games in the season.
Gerrard got into the hot seat after he replaced Dean Smith in 2021. He took on the reins of Aston Villa to do great things, but he is no longer wanted at the club as Aston Villa are facing danger in the form of relegation in the Premier League.
As per the Scottish Daily Express, Gerrard’s name has been doing the rounds as a potential candidate and could be in the hot seat for PSG if Galiter is no longer favoured as head coach. As PSG are still looking for the elusive Champions League title, the club feels that Gerrard could be the missing piece in the puzzle to make the magic happen.
Another name which is widely being speculated is Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked from his former club Chelsea in 2020. Gerrard had also held discussions with Leeds United. The top brass at PSG are fuming after a 2-1 loss to Marseille which meant that the Ligue 1 leaders were ousted out of the Coupe de France in the last 16.
Gerrard had a 11-month tenure at Ashton Villa and was overseeing affairs for forty matches in total. The side had 13 victories and 19 defeats and also included 8 drawn games. When it comes to goals, they made 52 and gave away 49 before there was a change of hands with Unai Emery coming in. PSG are still to come to the decision of saying goodbye to Galtier.
