Aryna Sabalenka, who is seeded number five, tasted victory in the singles final of the Australian Open. She beat Wimbledon Champion of 2022 in three sets on January 28 on Saturday. She was down 6-4 in the first set and did not start well. She produced a comeback for the ages to win the second and third sets 6-3 and 6-4 respectively.
Sabalenka, with her Australian Open title, has started 2023 off with a bang. She is on a great streak at the start of the year and is currently 11-0. She has played Tennis of the highest quality in the Australian Open. The set that was lost in the final by Sabalenka to Rybakina is the solitary set that she has lost out of the 21 sets that she has played this year.
Sabalenka is from Belarus and this is her first major final. The woman from Belarus dropped the opening set but she pulled herself together and then turn things around with her scintillating stroke play that helped her in getting 51 winners which were 20 more than her adversary.
She had seven double faults but she did not crack when she was under pressure as she rode the tough period to deliver 17 aces. She broke her opponent’s serve thrice. She took a 4-3 lead in set three that she maintained throughout. She had to take care to minimize her errors concerning double faults and also made sure that she tighten things up so that there would have been no chance of her opponent coming back.
She is a player who is well-built and who has a great serve. She has masterly over the ace and she uses those long towering aces to good effect when he plays Tennis on the court. When Rybakina sent a long forehand which gave Sabalenka the match point after a long and arduous toil of two and a half hours.
